Sorry guys this week has been crazy busy and it's only going to get worse! The kids and I leave for Nevada tomorrow afternoon and won't be back until late Wednesday so don't be alarmed when it takes a while for me to get back on here.
Good news!! Stephen's new cream is AWESOME!!! It really helped a lot.
I've been sloooooowwwwllly making my way through the new shows on TV and still am not done. I'm hoping to have a little marathon today while Stephen is at school if I can get it in gear and clean the house and pack!
Some of my favorites so far:
Chuck and Reaper: LOVE Chuck! You just can't help but root for this guy! I also like the Reaper that has a similar feel to it but I like the lead in Chuck better - the supporting cast in the Reaper steals it from the lead, especially the devil himself.
Dirty Sexy Money: Say what you will but I love trashy shows! And anything with a kooky Donald Sutherland has my vote! The funniest for me was in the first episode when the reporter told the youngest girl of the Darling family that she couldn't act and she told him, "Well, you're poor!" Too funny.
Big Shots: Okay, okay! So, the plot is a little ridiculous, who cares? Michael Vartan and Dylan McDermott could just sit there for an hour and I'd still watch! Also, Charisma Carpenter from Buffy/Angel is joining the cast so I'm keeping my hopes up.
Moonlight: Needs a LOT of work. So hard to do a vampire show when the best has already been done. However, I do like the lead and it has Jason Dohring from Veronica Mars whom I love. I'll give it a couple more episodes before I axe it from my schedule.
Kid Nation: You know, all controversy aside, I kind of like this show. It's actually a good show to watch with your kids. There are four sections of the "town" and each week they compete to see who gets in what class. There's an upper class, merchants, cooks, and laborers. They also get to choose from rewards each week. The first week it was either a TV or 8 more porta potties. 40 kids had been sharing one bathroom all week and they smartly chose the extra toilets! It's just neat to see what they are all thinking. They have 8-15 year olds on the show. And, for anyone who thinks it's awful that parents put their kids on this show. Listen, what about the parents who dress their kids up like hookers and put them on a stage to win prizes! Or the kids who go to camp all summer? Sorry, that excuse doesn't fly for me.
Gossip Girl: Deliciously trashy!!! These kids are wicked bad rich kids in New York City. I mean filthy rich. Of course, there's also the obligatory poor family but whatever. The music is great and Kristen Bell, a/k/a Veronica Mars herself, narrates!!!
Private Practice: I must say the first episode sucked for me! Come on, I know it's a show but waaaay too over the top. The second episode was better for me so I'm hoping it keeps improving. I love Kate Walsh and Tim Daly! This poor guy needs a great show! He actually has been in some great shows (Eyes, The Nine) but they get cancelled so I hope it works out for him. Actually, my favorite of this show is Paul Adelstein! Loved him in Prison Break as a total baddie so it's nice to see his comedic/warmer side. I'm way over Amy Brenneman's character - she's a shrink and she obviously needs her own! Also, can't understand why they had to replace Merrin Dungy with this new actress as Addison's friend. This one does nothing for me and has no chemistry with Taye Diggs whatsoever.
Pushing Daisies: I think this show suffered for me because of overhype. I think I expected a lot more out of it than I got. I will keep watching but it was not one of my favorites and I was really looking forward to loving it.
Bionic Woman: No. Can't do it. Sorry, I loved my Jamie Sommers in the original but I can't buy into this one. The lead has no charisma for me. She seemed very wooden and was not the best actress.
Back to You: Love Patricia Heaton and Kelsey Grammer and I think the show will do well (also you can't go wrong with Fred Willard SOOOOOO funny). I did find some moments funny but probably not enough to keep me coming back for more. I think this show will appeal to the older demographic (and nobody better say I'm part of that group!).
Okay, so maybe I've watched more than I thought! But, I still have to check out Cane and some of my returning favorites. Friday Night Lights tonight!!!! All in all I think they did a pretty good job this year with new shows!
Also, check out Ken Burns' The War on PBS. Fantastic documentary! I'm slowly getting through because it is long but I highly recommend it. I'm actually learning a lot from it. I had no idea how the United States was affected right here during WWII.
Okay, obviously, I've got to go or I'm never gonna get to my TV today.
John's doing great, Michelle's doing great. Our house has turned into the house where all the teenage girls hang out. We're supposed to have a Veronica Mars marathon tonight with three of Michelle's friends! Can't Wait! Rachel had her first middle school dance last night! She's back with Jon Tyler again. Apparently, he called his girlfriend during the dance and broke up with her and asked Rachel out and she said yes. Rachel actually is friends with this girl! I asked her if she thought that girl might be upset and she said, "Yeah, but I really don't care. " Ouch. This girl is so like me it's frightening! I need to do some serious parenting with this one!
Okay, really, I've got to go BYE!!!
